The BVI Wine and Food Festival is a new and dynamic event on the BVI calendar and one that is going to get everyone's taste buds tingling! From the 1st to 3rd November the best chefs in the Territory will be combining their talents with internationally renowned names in the culinary and winemaking worlds.
There are three visiting chefs: Chef Cesare Casella, owner of Salumeria Rosi Parmacotto, in NYC whose cookbook Fundamentals of Italian Cuisine was recently nominated for a James Beard Award; Chef François Payard, owner of patisseries and bakeries around the world who has earned numerous awards including three Michelin stars during his career and Chef Jennifer Carroll who, after working at the prestigious Le Bernardin in NYC has returned to her home town of Philadelphia where she leads the kitchen at the Ritz-Carlton's new restaurant, 10 Arts.
Joining this stellar line up are the BVI's own Chef Travis Philips of The Dove Restaurant who trained in NYC at top restaurants and BVI Culinary Team Gold Medalist, Chef and Owner of Plumrose Restaurant, Imran Ashton. To put the icing on the cake, this exciting weekend will be hosted by the exuberant chef Davide Pugliese, Executive Chef of Scrub Island Resort, Spa and Marina. Davide grew up in Northern Italy where he professes that he learned his passion for fragrant and flavorsome dishes from his Mama's kitchen, and says that it was the best culinary school in the world!
Festival Co-founders and Directors of this exciting new event, William Torrillo and Abby O'Neal said, "We believe the timing of this event is perfect as there is an emerging food scene in the BVI for all things gastronomic. A lot of people are eager to learn about international cuisine and explore new tastes and flavors. The BVI Food and Wine Festival is the first of what will be an annual event and will bring together internationally acclaimed chefs with our very own talented chefs in the BVI - resulting in a sharing of knowledge and culinary cultures that is both enjoyable and fun for participants and guests alike."
The festival will feature three solo wine dinners at Scrub Island Resort, Marina and Spa plus one collaborative wine dinner with all five featured chefs in their exquisite candle-lit Wine Room, which will be the dining experience of a lifetime. Nanny Cay will be transformed into "The Grand Tasting Village" where the beachside location will host wine tastings, featured demonstrations by the participating chefs, rum and beer tastings, DJ entertainment, a Champagne and chocolates sunset cruise and much more.
